Patrick Ranch Museum
Visit the Patrick Ranch Museum and experience the agricultural history of the Sacramento Valley. Displays, artifacts and tours weave the stories of the Ranch into your visit. The museum’s grand 1877 farm house, Glenwood, a century plus of pictures, farm receipts, manual and furniture , 260 year old Valley Oaks and rich alluvial soil provide an unparalleled springboard for first hand research and discovery.
History of the Ranch
In 2001, the home and its surround acreage were bequeathed to valley residents by the last ranch owner, Hester Grim Patrick. Hester and her husband William Garrison Patrick (who predeceased her in 1981), championed the promotion, documentation, preservation and appreciation of history throughout their lifetimes.
In keeping with Hester’s wished, the goal of the PRM is:
“The preservation and interpretation of the agricultural history of the Sacramento Valley, including social, cultural and economic aspects.”

Patrick Ranch Museum is a place where the history of Northern California comes to life. Located just south of Chico in Butte County, the historic Ranch preserves the stories, traditions, landscapes, and agricultural heritage that helped shape the region.
Patrick Ranch is a historic property meant to be explored. Visitors can walk the grounds, step inside historic spaces, discover vintage farm equipment, explore gardens, experience traditional skills, and learn about the people whose lives were connected to the land.

Each area tells another part of the Ranch’s story and provides a different way to connect with the past.
Depending on when you visit, you might discover historic farm machinery, watch a traditional blacksmithing demonstration, explore gardens, learn about pollinators, tour Glenwood Farmhouse, or simply enjoy walking through a landscape that has been connected to agriculture for generations.
A Place for the Northern California Community
Patrick Ranch continues to be a gathering place as well as a museum.
Throughout the year, the property welcomes visitors for educational programs, demonstrations, seasonal activities, community events, celebrations, and other special occasions. Weddings and private gatherings bring new memories to a landscape already filled with generations of history.
Volunteers, educators, community organizations, supporters, and visitors all play a role in keeping the Ranch active and ensuring that its stories continue to be shared.
